Dr. Pulak Kumar Deka is an accomplished academician, researcher, and research supervisor in the field of English Literature and Language. He is currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of English at Kaliabor College of Education, Assam. He also has extensive teaching and research experience in higher education institutions across Assam.
Dr. Deka holds a Ph.D. in English from SSSUTMS, Sehore, Madhya Pradesh. His doctoral research, titled “Reflection of Victorian England Society in the Novels of Charles Dickens,” reflects his strong specialization in Victorian literature, particularly the socio-cultural and moral dimensions of Dickens’s fiction..
With over a decade of teaching experience, Dr. Deka has served as Assistant Professor of English at reputed institutions such as Assam Down Town University, Pub Kamrup College, and Goreswar College. At Assam Down Town University, he has also been actively involved in postgraduate teaching and Ph.D. research supervision. Under his principal supervision, two scholars were awarded their Ph.D. degrees in 2025, and another scholar has successfully completed pre-submission work.
Dr. Deka has published widely in UGC CARE–listed, peer-reviewed, and refereed journals, with research contributions spanning Victorian literature, feminist literary criticism, Indian Writing in English, North-East Indian literature, and English language pedagogy. His scholarly work demonstrates a strong engagement with issues of gender, modernity, education, and socio-cultural change.
